Lawson State used a run midway through the second half to propel itself to a 70-63 win over Wallace State-Selma Friday night at the Arthur Shores Fine Arts Building.

With the game tied at 41, the Cougars went on a 10-2 run to take the lead for good.
Markel Aune knocked down consecutive 3-pointers to break a string that had seen five ties and four lead changes during the first 10 minutes of the second half.

The Patriots drew back to within four points with less than six minutes to go but seven straight points - the last of them coming on a 3-ball from Kyin Healy - have the Cougars a 60-49 advantage, their biggest of the game, with 3:55 left. Wallace-Selma again closed to within four points with two minutes left. But Lawson State hit 9-of-11 free throws down the stretch to close out the contest.

Aune and Healy each scored 13 points,
Omari Peek-Green added 12 points, and
Demetrius Davis and
Nick Howard each had eight points for Lawson State, which plays at Marion Military Institute on Monday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
