Sanaiya Morris scored 11 of her team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter as Lawson State erased a 10-point second half deficit to defeat Bishop State 69-62.
The Lady Wildcats (4-3, 1-1 ACCC) took a 39-29 lead early in the third quarter but the Lady Cougars (4-0, 2-0) took a 46-45 lead with 4:29 left in the period on bucket by
London Wooley (eight points).
Still, Bishop State held a one-point advantage at the end of the third quarter and was ahead 57-52 before Lawson State made its final push. Morris drained a 3-pointer and followed with a fast break layup to tie the game with 5:25 remaining. It started a 12-0 run that concluded with a bucket by
Amaya Edwards. Another basket by Morris gave the Lady Cougars a 66-58 advantage - their largest of the game - with 2:50 to go.
Deaviana Lee Vaughn had 13 points and
Ananda Hughley added 12 points for Lawson State, which is back in action on Nov. 30 when it plays at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.Â
